Fantastic 3/4

Term 2 Week 8 2023

What have we been up to?

In Literacy, our focus continues to be on information reports. Our students have been engaged in exploring different types of information reports. For the remainder of the term, our literacy lessons will revolve around creating an information poster about Aboriginal Culture as well as creating an information report on a topic of their choice in the last two weeks of term.

In Maths, we have been delving into Number and Algebra concepts. We recently introduced the concept of subtraction to our students. To ensure each student is appropriately challenged in all maths sessions, we have organised them into groups that target their specific areas of need. Students have been looking at how to subtract using number lines, 100’s charts and partitioning.

In Science, we will continue to explore how the environment impacts butterflies, providing valuable insights into the natural world. Student’s have been further analysing how Butterflies help biodiversity in our communities.

In Inquiry, students have been researching different Aboriginal Dreaming stories. The students have really enjoyed looking into the history of these stories. The students performed their plays to the rest of the year level, each story had a narrator and students acting the play using colourful hand made props.

In P.E, students have been enjoying participating in an AFL program every Wednesday. Students have been taught skills, such as kicking, handballing and bouncing the ball.

Finally, students in 3/4 B had a successful day filming for their movie directed by Bruce. The children looked great in their costumes and certainly knew how to act! We cannot wait to see the end product. Students in 3/4 A and C will be filming next term.

Thank you for your ongoing support!

Best regards,
