Chaplain's Message

A soft pink hue through the clouds with a magnificent rainbow, set the scene for a magnificent Wednesday 21st June.

The colour swiftly turned to red, back to grey and the drizzle kept falling on and off during the morning. Tomorrow it will all look washed, a little damp and brightly fresh! The changing scenes that bring new growth to our harsh environment.

Nature so often reflects life – the changing circumstances that bring us new opportunities, forcing us to learn new skills, new heights of resilience whilst growing our capacity for flexibility.

As we reflect on the news around the world, we have cause to be grateful for our little part of the world, although sometimes challenging, mostly we have much to celebrate.

The beauty that surrounds us, the multicultural nature of our town, the opportunities that lurk in the nooks and crannies of our community – we also give thanks for the many folk working in our service organisations trying to bring hope and joy into the lives of those that struggle.

We give thanks for our beautiful College – for the vision that was birthed at the turning of the first sod of soil by Rev Dr Fred McKay as he claimed the verse from Psalm 127 “Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labour in vain, Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain”.

As we look back over the year, may we recognise that hand of God that has guided and directed us – we will never be aware of the times God has stepped in to prevent disaster, but we can give thanks that “he has made a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland to give drink to my people”. (Paraphrased from Isiaih 43.)

As we move into holidays, may we enjoy rest and recuperation, the rebuilding of our resources to return fresh for Semester 2.

Go safely and may you take the time and have eyes to see the magical moments as you rediscover "wonder" in the everyday.

Keep safe and God bless.
