SCIENCE FACULTY

Human Diseases Museum Excursion

Year 12 Biology students had an awesome first-hand experience visiting the Human Diseases Museum. This complemented their study on Modules 7 & 8 - Infectious and Non-Infectious Diseases.

The Museum of Human Disease contains over 2,500 diseased human tissue specimens and it demonstrates hundreds of diseases and their complications including HIV/AIDs, cancer, strokes, heart attacks, diabetes, genetic disorders, and the effects of drugs.

Some of the key diseases covered in the presentation were cirrhosis, atherosclerosis, and tuberculosis. Students also had an insight into trichotillomania and trichophagia!

Penrith Lakes Excursion

Our enthusiastic Year 11 Biology students battled the elements of nature to learn about the ecosystems at Penrith Lakes. It was a wet, windy, and freezing day but our students kept on working to test the water quality and dip netting for insects! It was a great opportunity to learn about human impacts on the environment.

Western Sydney University Experience

All our Year 11 science students had a great experience in carrying out practical activities at the University laboratory at the Science Day at WSU. We greatly appreciate and thank WSU for the opportunities provided to our students!
