Busking for Change
BUSKING FOR CHANGE
Busking For Change is a joyful musical multi-literacy activity where students come together, learn and perform a song in an Aboriginal First Language and raise funds to support more Communities to access books and have their stories published in languages they speak at home.
It is important that Indigenous children can see themselves, their culture and languages reflected in the books they read. Having books that share local stories in First Languages, preserves and maintains Indigenous languages and culture, as well as builds pride, identity and strengthens a sense of belonging, confidence and wellbeing.
By supporting your children with a Busking For Change fundraiser account, our school is supporting children in remote Communities around Australia with vital literacy resources. And that makes our school a change maker!
The song we will be learning as a collective is 'Words Make The World Go Round' We will be learning it in English as well as parts of it in Kriol. Kriol is an Indigenous Language that is spoken in the top end of Australia. We invite all parents/carers/friends/families to join us on September 7th to enjoy the hard work all students have put into learning the song.
We would love for you all to get involved and raise money for this wonderful foundation.
