Indigenous News

In the first week of Term 3 we celebrated NAIDOC week by immersing the students in a round robin sports day. Students completed many Traditional Indigenous games and learnt that the games weren't so different to the games we may play today.

NAIDOC stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee. By celebrating, it is our chance to learn about the histories and engage with the cultures and achievements of the First Nations People of Australia.

The theme this year was For Our Elders. Student had a chance to learn more about what an Elder is and how they are important. As part of this significant day, we had a colouring competition where students put in a wonderful effort to create such beautiful masterpieces. It was a very hard decision to pick the winners, so we congratulate everyone that participated. Thank you to Renee McCaig our Koori Education Support Officer (DET) for being our guest judge!
