Attendance
The Solway Attendance Policy was updated late last year. Please find the policy attached.
The policies requires parents to notify the school if their child is absent and provide a reason. If students are going to be away for more than 5 consecutive days, an absence plan will need to be developed in conjunction with the teacher, parent/carer and student. Any intended absence of more than five days for a family holiday must be approved by the Principal, parents are asked to email the school with details before the holiday so that plans can be put in place.
Below are some resources for parents that may assist with school attendance and school refusal.
If you require further information, please contact Kate Nancarrow via the office.
The Resilience Project
Throughout 2023, our school will be working closely with The Resilience Project to support the wellbeing of our school community. The Resilience Project delivers emotionally engaging programs and provides evidence-based, practical strategies to build resilience.
We would like to share The Resilience Project’s Parent & Carer Hub with you. Here you will find a variety of information, videos and activities that outline the key pillars of resilience: Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness and Emotional Literacy.
This program is an important part of our school’s effort to look after the mental health of our community.
