Table Tennis Stars

Jenny Sanchez has become Glen Eira College’s new table tennis super-coach; her mentoring of the Year 8 table tennis players saw both the boys and girls teams progress through to the Regional Final.  It was the girls who came out on top at this level to proceed to the state-wide final.  After winning their first two pool matches, they were disappointed to be beaten by their opponents in the third and final game but this quickly turned to joy when it was announced that they had secured a place in the semi-final.  They went on to finish third in Victoria and we are very proud of them.

On Wednesday Phoebe, Erin, Ashleigh and Lauren  went to the state finals for table tennis. We took a taxi to MSAC where we played our first match Mary MacKillop Leongatha and won all of our matches. This really helped lift  our confidence.

The second team we played was Warrnambool College – this game was much closer but we were able to persevere and eventually won 4-2. The final team in our pool that we played was East Doncaster Secondary Colege.  Unfortunately we lost this game 6-0. Since we won against two out of the three school we came second in our pool which meant we progressed into the semi-final.

In the semi-final we played Maribyrnong College and lost 5-1 which is a good result against an opponent that was just too god on the day. Losing in the semi-final means that we came third in the state which is an amazing result.
