COMPASS:
I cannot stress enough the importance of regularly logging onto COMPASS and viewing your child’s current goals and achievements. Teaching staff frequently update this important information as it strengthens the home-school partnership in supporting your child’s learning. It is also imperative to celebrate your child’s successes. By celebrating their achievements, you will find you are assisting your child in developing a success mindset, motivating them to achieve more and simply making them feel good about learning.
Be on the lookout for more achievements in Reading, Writing and Numeracy throughout term two.
NAPLAN:
Our attention will shortly focus on NAPLAN preparation for our year three and five students. Please be aware of the following dates in which the NAPLAN paper tests will be held:
- Language Conventions / Writing: Tuesday May 15th
- Reading: Wednesday May 16th
- Numeracy: Thursday May 17th
Throughout the first month of term two, teaching staff will best prepare the students for the upcoming tests by exposing them to:
- Text Structures and Features of both Persuasive/Narrative text types
- Back to Front Maths NAPLAN preparation practice tests that focus primarily on problem solving and understanding
- Literacy preparation tests that focus on comprehension strategies as well as exposing them to a range of resources that help increase their capabilities to determine the correct or incorrect use of punctuation, spelling or grammar
- Different test conditions and the environment they will work in
Parents, please have a look at the link below that contains extra information about the upcoming NAPLAN tests.
