Class of 2017 Academic Achievements

College Dux Britney Lloyd
College Dux Britney Lloyd

Congratulations on the academic results attained in 2017 by students who undertook VCE, VET and VCAL subjects.

In 2017 MSJ had 12% of students with an ATAR above 90 and 29% with an ATAR above 80.

I would also like to acknowledge and congratulate the 7.6% of students who achieved a study score of greater than 40 for a subject. This places them in the top 2% of the State.

On 6 February the College celebrated the excellent achievements of the 2017 VCE and VCAL graduates. Students who achieved the Subject Dux Awards and the Top 20 ATAR scores along with those who achieved 40 or more in individual study scores were recognised.

The College Assembly was a wonderful celebration of students’ success with family and friends in attendance. This was followed by lunch with all staff who have played an integral role in the lives of these young women from years 7 to 12.

The College Dux for 2017, Britney Lloyd, achieved an ATAR score of 98.75. Britney’s reflection to the College community focused on her achievements and efforts and the commitment of all teachers across her time at the College. Britney has accepted a placement at Melbourne University to study a Bachelor of Arts degree.

As our 2017 Year 12 students start the next exciting chapter of their education or life journey, our thoughts and prayers go with them.

Student Led Conferences

On Thursday 22 February, students took part in their first Student Led Conference. The conferences gave students a unique chance to discuss their learning goals, aspirations and successes with both their family and teachers.

The conferences were introduced to encourage students to take increased ownership of their learning, become more reflective and to strengthen the partnership between students, families and teachers.

Initial feedback from students, family and staff include:

I feel like I received great feedback from my Learning Mentor, which will help me complete my goals.”

Feedback from a Student

“A very valuable experience for my daughter. I was impressed with her preparation and the direction of the conference. The Learning Mentor Teacher made some very interesting points and I feel that my daughter has very clear next steps on her VCE journey.”

Feedback from a Parent

“Students came well prepared and understood the link between their goals and how they perform in their learning. It was great to hear about all of the amazing achievements that are happening in the girls lives that I wouldn’t normally get a chance to talk about at length.”
