McClelland College Academy Community Event Day Ballam Park Primary School Visit

On Wednesday, May 29th, our school was visited by our neighbours at Ballam Park Primary School.

Approximately one hundred guests from Grades five and six attended and got to spend time in the prestigious McClelland College Academy of their choice for an afternoon.

Our visitors made their way to the new McClelland College Centre for Sporting Excellence and were able to have a look around at our brand new, modern facilities before breaking off into groups and joining several of our Academy Ambassadors who peeled off and made their way to their exciting new experiences.

Ballam Park Primary asked their students to select an academy of their choice before arriving, so anticipation was high as these prospective McClelland College students in 2020 and 2021 made their way to their academy for the day.

The four academies selected were our Photography Academy, our Japanese Academy (Japow!), the Food Technology Academy (Food For Thought), and our Robotics Academy.

Students from Ballam Park were encouraged to learn a raft of new skills including: Baking Egg, Bacon and Spinach Pies (and eating them with their new friends!), creating Lego Robots, Making Claymation films, and learning the finer points of Origami, Calligraphy and how to make their own onigiri rice balls.

In these academies their teachers were their older peers; McClelland College Academy students. A great time was had by all.

Bring on Semester Two!

McClelland College Basketball Academy Roadshow.

Our magnificent, hardworking Basketball Academy took their show on the road last Wednesday when they held their Community Event at Rowellyn Park Primary School, with whom the Basketball Academy have built an extremely supportive community relationship over the past few years.

Thanks to Coach Nichols and THE EDUCATOR - Mr. Walklate for all of their organisation, and for Jess who helped the day to run very smoothly. Staff and students from Rowellan Park Primary School thoroughly enjoyed learning the skills and strategies of Basketball as played at the highest level.

Hoop Dreaming.

Their students thoroughly enjoyed learning the wisdom of the great game from our local student experts and their coaches. Our Basketball Academy certainly embody McClelland College values of Community, Ownership and Growth.
