Survey Results
Thank you to the readers' who took the time to respond to the survey featured in issue 5. We had 33 responses, all with great feedback to be considered. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive with majority of readers loving the new look newsletter.
79% of responses said they found the new newsletter easy to use, which was also reflected in the comments section.
Our reader’s favourite part of the newsletter included:
- The layout and the pictures of the kids and their awards. We also love reading the sports results!
- Events. I can put things in my diary in advance
- Habits of Mind
- I like the term dates for what is happening this term
- I like all of it, well presented throughout
- Easy to read all sections, less likely to miss important info - as you have to scroll all the way through
Some of the comments and suggestions included:
- An overview of each year level or class would be nice
- I skim read all of it... so the longer you make it, the more stuff I will miss. It is manageable at the moment. It is annoying that I have to scroll down on every page. It makes me more inclined to skip pages that I do not think are super important (like sickbay.) It looks snazzy though!
- I love how each page has a heading and the photo of the person in charge of it. Puts names to faces and the layout is so easy to use. Lots of photos and colour makes it a fun read. Thank you.
- Newsletter looks great and is even easy to read on my phone.
- Keep up the great work!
- Love the new look of the newsletter, 1 staff/teacher updates per page is so much easier to read compared to the old newsletter. It will be Good to include every year level teachers' update too
The survey included the question ‘What would you like to see more of?’ 20 out of 33 readers said they would like to see more photos and student achievements.
Based on this response we have started to include a year level news page to give parents an update on their learning, from the student’s perspective. The last two issues have featured news from the Preps, Year 1's and Year 6 students. Look out for 'The Year 2 News' in this week’s issue. We have also considered the length of the newsletter to ensure parents have time to read it all. We will trial having only one Princpals Report per issue.
The feedback we receive in all of our surveys are considered a summary of the views of all of our families here at Kingswood. We are grateful to those who take the time to give feedback to ensure we can provide the best possible educational experiences and Community at Kingswood.

Snapshot Surveys
Thank you to those who responded to our survey on Open Night. Once again, the feedback was positive with some interesting suggestions and ideas proffered.
7 respondents had not attended our Open Night. The majority of people reported that an earlier start would have made it possible for them to attend or a different day (it was the night before Year 6 Camp). Many of the comments from people who did attend asked for the time to be extended to allow all families to visit each of the classrooms and participate in each activity.
Over 90% of the respondents rated Open Night, as a 4 or 5 (out of 5), with the remainder giving it a score of 3 out of 5. Only 1 person would not like to see the activity based format repeated in 2018, while everybody else would.
Additional suggestions not yet reported included displaying each teacher’s name in the classrooms, clarifying the purpose (is it for current and prospective parents to get a feel for the school and its programs or just a fun night?) and varying the activities (there were a lot of fine motor activities). Parents also reported that the students really enjoyed the “experiential activities,” with one child thanking her parents for sending her to Kingswood because it’s “the best school for having fun activity nights.”
As always, this feedback will be considered when planning next year’s Open Night so we do appreciate the time given by the respondents.
