NAS (Northern Associated School) Nominations Term 2 – Winter Sport
There are byes for NAS Sport Monday 4 June – Wednesday 6 June to coincide with senior (Year 11 and 12) exams. Our next fixture will be against Sacred Heart College on Monday 11 June . There is a possibility that Year 10 NAS fixtures against Sacred Heart College will be played on Wednesday 6 June, as we have our Year 10 Outdoor education camp clashing with NAS fixtures. Students will be advised via email once changes have been confirmed.
A copy of the fixtures, venues and information regarding NAS Sport is available on the College website. A reminder that students need to inform the teacher in charge of their sport well in advance if they are unavailable to fulfill their commitment.

ACC Cross Country
Congratulations to all members of the SSWA and ACC Cross-Country team; John XXIII College finished second overall, with the girls winning the overall shield.
On Thursday 31 May at Alderbury Reserve, Perry Lakes, a committed team of over 70 John XXIII College students were ready to face the challenge of a difficult 3km (girls), or 4 km (boys), cross-country course. The ACC event has grown over the years and has over 3000 competitors represented across 70 schools in the ACC. The task on Thursday was made more difficult with consistent showers and even the odd thunderstorm rolling in throughout the event.
Much like our performance in the SSWA Cross-Country carnival the week before John XXIII College put in a magnificent team performance. Given the College did not win an age category or have a top 5 finisher in any race, for John XXIII College to finish second overall on the day was a credit to all members of the team. It was a real testament to the mantra of trying your best, team effort and enjoying the experience across all age groups. Our girls performance was outstanding. Often we had all six runners finishing in the top 100 of their race.
It was a pleasure to be involved in a team that showed excellent spirit, encouragement and support for each other. A big thanks to parents who were able to come along and support students on the day in the trying conditions. I’d also like to thank our coaches Mr Tremayne, Mr Haines, ex-student and former superstar cross-country runner Sian Munks, and Sarah Hynes. As without their commitment to training we would not have had the foundation to record such an impressive performance. A final thanks to all students who have been involved in Cross-Country, whether it was at training, competing or supporting as a reserve we hope you have enjoyed the experience in 2018.
