Fr Paul - College Chaplain

Friends,

During this coronavirus pandemic, everyone tries their best to care for others in different ways. Social distancing becomes a norm in our society, even in our own family. However, we still find another way to connect with friends and families via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, phone and other social media. Let us not forget to spend our time connecting with our God, our Lord, “THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE.”

At this moment we cannot gather together to celebrate the Holy Sacrifice, the Holy Mass at any churches or chapels. But to be sure that I and other priests always keep you all in our prayers and at the Holy Mass. God always listen to our prayer, as Jesus says, "And I tell you, Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” (Luke 11:9)

Thanks to the “Facebook Chapel,” we can attend the Holy Mass live stream each day at Sacred Heart Parish Griffith Facebook and also adore the Lord online.

I encourage you all to participate in the life of our parish through these Facebook pages to pray for each one of us and the world so that we will not miss the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ as Little Johnny in the following story.

Little Johnny was sick on Palm Sunday and stayed home from church with his mother. His father returned from church holding a palm branch. The little boy was curious and asked, “Why do you have that palm branch, dad?” His father explained, “You see, when Jesus came into town, everyone waved palm branches to honour Him; so we got palm branches today.” “Aw, shucks,” grumbled Little Johnny. “The one Sunday I can’t go to Church, and Jesus shows up!”

Let us together raise our mind and heart to pray to the Lord for the world, your family and each one of us.

O Mary, you always shine on our path

as a sign of salvation and of hope.

We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick,

who at the cross took part in Jesus' pain, keeping your faith firm.

You, Salvation of the Roman People,

know what we need, and we are sure you will provide

so that, as in Cana of Galilee,

we may return to joy and to feasting after this time of trial.

Help us, Mother of Divine Love,

to conform to the will of the Father

and to do as we are told by Jesus,

who has taken upon himself our sufferings

and carried our sorrows

to lead us, through the cross,

to the joy of the resurrection. Amen.

Under your protection, we seek refuge, Holy Mother of God. Do not disdain the entreaties of we who are in trial, but deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.
