VET NEWS

VET Update

Teaching and learning for our students has changed in the last couple of weeks as we have needed to adapt to the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. Students enrolled in VET courses are strongly urged to check their online platforms (emails and Google classrooms) daily to stay informed of any updates as they occur. As I am informed of any updates concerning TAFE, TAFE digital, SBATs, I will be communicating via email to students, so please read/check your emails every day. Please read below:

TAFE- TAFE NSW delivery, including EVET at TAFE NSW campuses, was suspended on the 30 March 2020. For clarity during this period of suspension, Students should not attend TAFE NSW campus during EVET class time. Some classes may be able to move to online delivery. Please email your TAFE teachers to find out more. TAFE Digital delivery for online students is proceeding as usual. For some courses where practical tasks and assessments cannot be done at this time, TAFE teachers are rearranging training plans to give access to theory work. Students are to continue with their course and contact their TAFE Digital teacher if you have any questions or concerns.

SBAT- School Based Apprenticeship/Traineeships- are proceeding as usual. As each student is completing individual training plans and working in a diverse range of employment areas, each case is different. The students need to communicate with their work concerning whatever procedures each organisation has in place. Students also need to communicate with their training instructors of any changes with the delivery of their course. Online delivery should be proceeding as usual.

VET @ MCC- Students are able to access their Fitness, Hospitality and Business Services courses online. Our teachers are busy creating interactive and theory based activities. Students have been still accessing prac lessons online, in the form of Cooking challenges and Fitness challenges set by the teachers. Work Placement for these VET courses is postponed for the time being, as we are unsure of how businesses will be situated in the future.

Students please check your emails daily, as I will keep you informed of any updates.

Stay Safe, Keep well,

Ms Lucia Dickie  | VET Coordinator
