It’s time for the return of The Word!
Our English students are putting their talents on display and they want YOU to be there!
It’s time again for Festival of the Word, which celebrates all things English … reading and writing, speaking and listening, and viewing and representing. To wrap up an exciting 2019, our students will be performing, presenting and displaying their work on Tuesday night, December 3rd in the MCC Drama Studio and Art Room.
The evening will kick off with ice-cold drinks, sold by our 2020 student leaders. From 5:30 pm, you can admire displays of work from some of our junior English units this year, which include Picture Book Spreads, Shakespeare Costume Portfolios, Dioramas of Set Adaptations from Macbeth and Visual Representations of the Refugee Experience and Conflict in the War.
From 6 pm we will be showcasing on-stage skills; with an original play written by a Year 11 Extension student, poetry reenactments from Year 11 Standard and Advanced students, speeches from Year 9, a performance by Year 10 English students (with a twist), original poetry recitals, a number of creative commercials from Year 10, a short film produced by a Year 12 student and performances from Year 9 Drama!
Don’t forget to collect your ticket for our lucky door prizes! – A voucher to Griffith Regional Theatre valued at $70!!! Plus TWO $25 vouchers to Collins Bookstore
So come and join us as we round off the year with a celebration of the Word. Hope to see you all there!
