Principal's Report

A message from the Principal

Welcome to the first edition of our new newsletter format. We have made this change as a part of our continuous improvement program and believe that this will improve the reading/viewing performance of the newsletter. There are a number of features to our newsletter that just aren't possible with more traditional formats.

We appreciate that there will be some who prefer the old format and accordingly there will be limited paper copies available at the school.

This first edition will contain some broader information articles about school structures as well as more recent news items.

One of the first tasks of the school year is to finalise enrolment numbers as this impacts on staffing. Our numbers have just been returned and are a little down on what we anticipated in August last year due largely to the relocation of several families for employment opportunities elsewhere. The school executive is now in planning mode to accommodate this situation and we are confident that we can minimise the impact across the school. Any adjustments will be announced as soon as they are finalised.

I was very pleased to be able to present our very first Bronze Phoenix award under our new whole school merit system at Tuesday's whole school assembly - congratulations to Jackson Davison on this achievement. I'm also aware that at our next assembly in Week Nine we will have many more awarded. For any who have missed this information, whole school assemblies now take place in Weeks 3, 6 and 9 of Terms 1-3 and in Weeks 3, 5 and 9 of Term 4. The actual days and times are published elsewhere in this newsletter.

I would like to make special mention of Riley Kliendienst for his virtuoso drumming performance at the assembly, especially given the short notice that he was given of his performance. Riley stood tall, walked proud and demonstrated what being brave is all about.

Until next time enjoy the new newsletter, have a great fortnight and be brave!
