2018 School Year

It was wonderful to welcome our new Year 7-10 students, along with all our returning Secondary students, last Tuesday.  Our new Design and Technology room is up and running and Year 7 will be the first group to test out these facilities in Mandatory Technology.  If parents have any questions or need to seek clarification, please contact your child's Pastoral Teacher or Class Teacher for specific subjects.

Each Monday morning we start the school week with an assembly followed by an Academic Pastoral lesson designed to improve literacy, numeracy and student engagement.  This week the focus of this lesson was on study, revision and homework.  Homework is set by teachers to reinforce classroom learning, study is a focus on preparation of assessment tasks and revision is wider reading to improve understanding. Some YouTube channels (eg CrashCourse and Wootube) and some apps (eg Study Ladder and Read Theory) can also be valuable revision tools.

All students have been given a Study Planner to help them organise their time over the week.  When completing the planner students should firstly block out times when they have a commitment, like work or sports training.  In the time left they should then set aside time for homework, study and revision.  A good guide for the amount of time is 10 minutes for each Year level ( Year 7 - 70 minutes, Year 8 - 80 minutes and so on).

Assessment Calendars for Semester One are being completed by teachers and have been shared with all students. Shortly, these calendars will be available for parents through the school website.

Year 7 NSW School Vaccination Program information has been sent home with students. Please return this to your child's Pastoral Teacher as soon as possible.
