Playground Redevlopment Committee

Playground Redevlopment Committee

The playground committee has met a number of times late last year and early this year and discussed a number of key topics to improve both the physical and visual aspects of St. Raphael’s playground.

After 2 meetings the following has been discussed;

As after school care has moved into the hall the old space is to become an art and sustainability area. Kids to be involved in doing up space, we will retain the building and use it as an indoor/outdoor space. The grills on the windows are being removed this term. Concept is for children to be able to access during school and play times.

A building fund has been set up. All funds donated to the fund will go towards the playground redevelopment.

All fundraising this year will be for the playground redevelopment and a fundraising thermometer to be introduced to depict funds and saving goals

A conceptual master plan is in place  and “stage one” of the redevelopment involves the Breen street entrance. We would like it to be welcoming, inclusive and sensory.

Before agreeing on “stage two” the conceptual plan to be shared with the teachers, students and the school community. We have considered:

Removal of main playground and new “play pods” to be built and staged based on costings obtained

  • Possible street art for BREEN street to be completed and students to design.
