Macbeth Incursion

In the Year 10 English curriculum, students are learning about the gruesome tale of an ambitious king. After meeting three meddlesome witches, he tries to rush his destiny only to meet his downfall. This blood-soaked story is the famous Shakespearean play, Macbeth.
To really understand a play, it’s important to see it performed rather than just reading it. So, on the first Friday back from holidays, the Year 10 and Year 9 SEAL English students got to watch three professional actors perform key extracts from Macbeth in the Multi. There was romance, sword fights and of course moments of supernatural chaos.
Here’s what our students said about the performance by Complete Works Theatre Company:
“On the 26th of April, year 9 SEAL’s and year 10’s were given the opportunity to watch the play Macbeth. The characters of Macbeth were played by three actors, even though only three people acted the many roles that are in the play, they all did an amazing job. Overall the play was good.” - Ebony Watson (Year 9 SEAL)
“It was entertaining because it helped me understand Shakespeare’s play Macbeth better. Now I know what happens in the story.” - Georgia Ely (Year 10)
“For the actors to juggle through their roles was pretty impressive. The whole story has now become a lot more clear for me.” - Maddox Munn-Te Amo (Year 10)
