Course Counselling

Year 9 & 10 Course Counselling

During Term Two, students in Year 9 and Year 10 have been taking part in a range of course counselling activities as part of our Tutorial Group Program.  Year 9 students are getting to know the subjects that will be offered in 2017 and are able to ask their tutorial group teacher questions regarding subject content and links to Year 11 and 12 subjects. Year 10 students are presently working out of their Course Counselling Workbooks to research a range of possible careers and University/TAFE courses they are interested in, which will assist them to choose appropriate subjects to study in 2017.

I would encourage all parents to have conversations with and assist their daughter/son to investigate careers and courses they are interested in and read the Course Counselling Workbook, which has advice on how and where to find the relevant information about careers and University/TAFE courses.

As a part of the course counselling process, all Year 9 and 10 parents are invited to the Subject Expo and Course Counselling Parent Information Night, which will be on Thursday, the 9th of June.

A Subject Expo, where you will be welcome to ask questions of teaching staff about subjects, will be held from 5pm until 6pm, followed by the Course Selection Information session from 6pm until 6.45pm, with a VCAL session to follow for Year 10 parents from 6.45pm until 7pm.

VCE/VCAL subject selection sheets will be handed to students on the night.

Subject selection sheets and completed Course Counselling Booklets, signed by the student’s tutorial group teacher and a parent, may be submitted to Mr Davey (Year Level Coordinators’ office) at any time after the information evening up until Monday, the 20th of June.

Note: VCE/VCAL selection sheets will not be accepted if not accompanied by a completed Course Counselling Booklet.
