Vis Com and Media Top Designs Excursion

Top Designs

Year 11 and 12 Visual Communication and Design students, and Year 12 Media students travelled to the city last Friday to see Top Designs, an exhibition showcasing the work of the top students from 2015 in various design subjects across Victoria. We caught two trains and walked through the Carlton Gardens, past the Royal Exhibition Building, to the Melbourne Museum. There we had the opportunity to look through student folios and design products in multiple mediums, including fashion, photography, food, furniture, film, print and product design. The high standard of work was inspiring for Staughton students, which sparked lots of discussion about their own work and how they would go about their productions for this year and in the future. Students really appreciated the experience and it was a valuable excursion for VCE students who are currently undertaking their own production folios and designs.

Thank you to all the students who attended and to Mr Tregonning and Luke Milkovic (Victoria University pre-service teacher), for helping make the trip smooth and leading students through the busy city streets and train timetables.

It was good to see the quality of student work so we have something to compare our own work to and we can aim towards those high standards. Danielle Kun

I found it useful seeing the work of last year’s top students because it helps me to see what I need to add to my own folio. Braidyn Psaila

It was a big eye opener and really beneficial to see the folios because now I know what I need to work towards. Laura Johnstone
