The Year 10 Food for thought and Food Studies Cake display was held last week on Friday 15 November at lunch time in the Hospitality Centre.

Read some of the comments from students regarding their experience and time this class.

  • During this design brief I enjoyed making the characters and adding extra elements to improve my cake design. The challenge was to create the characters keeping them true to the original design.
  • I really enjoyed the task, I was out of my comfort zone working with the fondant, I learnt so much creating pieces for my chosen design. The end result was one of my best cakes ever.
  • I really enjoyed the experience. I learnt new skills and used my creative abilities to the fullest. I also learned how to manage my time and believe in myself.
  • The cake decorating design brief was really fun and challenging. I got to make a bunch of little pieces I then used to create my overall cake design. Even though I have used fondant before I learned new techniques.
  • The fondant work design brief was really enjoyable and I highly recommend this subject to other students. We got to learn new techniques on how to decorate a cake, this assessment sparked my interest in cooking/baking.
  • In this design brief using the fondant to produce our designs was like playing with Play-Doh. Being creative and seeing our designs come together was a great experience
  • This was my first experience working with fondant. I really enjoyed the challenge of creating my design.
  • What I really enjoyed about the design brief was I got to be creative and develop my skills working with the fondant.
