Year 7 & 8 Table Tennis

During term 4, I had three teams of year 7 and 8 boys and girls win the western region table tennis competition which was held at the SASC's gymnasium. I then had to take our team to the next round which was held in North Geelong. The winner of this round would be declared the western metropolitan champions and they would head to the state finals. All our players trained for 2 months prior to this day to make sure we were ready for the challenge.

The year 7 girls team played so well in Geelong, beating Maribyrnong Sports College and Belmont High School to make it into the semi finals. However we lost by the finest margins of 1 set to Bayside Secondary College. Well done to Amilia Imierowicz, Jenny Dinh, Crystal Tran and Alysha Nguyen.

The year 8 boys team played so well in the next round as well, beating belmont HS and marginally losing to Maribyrnong Sports College to make it through to the semi finals. However they stumbled 4 rubbers to 2 rubbers against a very gallant Good News Lutheran team. Well done to Tommy Duong, James Dang, Josiah Le Pham, Daud Malik and Thinh Dang.

The year 8 girls team played ferociously throughout the tournament dropping only 2 rubbers out of a possible 24 rubbers; they beat Maribyrnong Sports College, Northern Bay Secondary, Bayside Secondary College and Good News Lutheran. The girls trained very hard for this and deserve to be the western metro champions. We are onto the state finals, let's all wish the girls the best of luck next week.

Congratulations to the winners of the western metropolitan region.

Kelly Chen, Priya Ravi, Gozde Turan, Jillian Bautista and Lily Huang.
