SRC & Work Experience

Student Representative Council Report

Over the past month the SRC have been focusing on our primary school day and the PRSE (pre-review self evaluation).

After looking at CSCs Attitudes to School survey data, we ran a day of workshops with primary school students from 5 schools in the Mount Alexander Shire, with the goal of every group developing a project to implement at their school. This day was led by Amy Ferguson, and she believes that that the activities also helped students connect with SRCs from other schools and develop a better understanding of youth leadership.

We have also spent a few mentor sessions over the past month giving feedback for the PRSE evaluation. This has been largely focused on highlights with minimal opportunity for criticism, and we have not yet consulted any students outside of the SRC for the PRSE.

Recently the SRC have also sought feedback on the school council’s letter in support of the School Strike for Climate Action movement. We have consulted the students of the year 9 Steiner class, who have been prominent in the movement, and other students who have attended strikes, and made changes based on their recommendations.

The feedback that we received was largely positive, with the most important additions being a declaration of a climate emergency and an acknowledgement of the individual students who started the Australian School Strike for Climate Action movement.
