Sustainability at St Raphael's

Fresh produce delivery

This semester, our Year 6 leaders teamed up with the Food Security Network to grow fresh produce in our garden to donate to some of the most vulnerable members of our community.   On Thursday 21st November, a group of Year 6 students harvested a mammoth 12 crates of fresh parsley, coriander, silverbeet, kale and spring onions and delivered the produce to the  Aboriginal Advancement League in Thornbury.  Here we met Ian, a member of the League's family services unit who received the bounty with much appreciation and gratitude.  We look forward to working with the  Aboriginal Advancement League in future to continue this positive relationship.

Walk to School winners!

Back in October, St Raphael's participated in Walk to School month.  Our fantastic House Captains and senior school students coordinated a range of activities and we celebrated together with our Walk to School celebration breakfast and lunchtime disco.

Darebin Council ran a competition to reward the most engaged participants and best Walk to School Campaign in the Darebin area.  We are proud to announce St Raphael's won the MAJOR prize.

As a reward, our Year 5/6 students will attend an hour long latitude trampoline/ climbing excursion to the value of $2000.

Congratulations to all involved and let's keep travelling to school in an active way  in the new year.

Merry Christmas from Garden Club

Garden Club  have had a great year!  We have been very busy in the garden shed and our chooks have received A LOT of love and attention.

On Tuesday we made Salt Dough Christmas Ornaments to help celebrate Christmas.  Once baked, these ornaments will be decorated and children can hang them on their Christmas Tree as a reminder of the wonderful time they have spent outdoors with their friends.

Merry Christmas from all living things in our Outdoor Learning Space.
