Aquatic Education
Students have recently completed their Aquatic Education program for 2019. It was great to see the enthusiasm of the Junior Lifeguard students who attended the Beach Fun Day @ Sandridge Life Club, braving the windy conditions in the morning to continue to develop their swimming and lifesaving skills, and also partaking in sand based activities.
It is worthwhile remembering that swimming is apart of the Victorian Curriculum and having access to the beach day allows for the students to put into practice their swimming skills in a new environment. It was disappointing to note that 35% of our Junior Lifeguard's decided to not participate in this day.
2020 Swimming Trials
Selected students have been invited to trial for the 2020 Swimming Squad, with these students receiving their notice via CareMonkey. This will be held on Monday 3rd February @ Northcote Aquatic Centre from 12pm-2pm. Parents are welcome to attend and assist with the timing of the students strokes.
2020 Weetbix TRYathlon
Registrations for the 2020 Sanitarium Weet-Bix TRYathlon are now open.
The Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon is a non-competitive event. It is a community engagement program that assists kids to develop self esteem. Australia’s largest Kids TRYathlon series aims to encourage kids to get fit & active while having fun with their friends.
The TRYathon is conducted along the lines of an adult triathlon, i.e: swim, ride and run in one event.
The Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon is for kids aged 7 – 15 years of age. It doesn’t matter if you have participated in the Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon Series before or not. The Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon is all about TRY-ing your best and having a go!
Note that the format of the day is that kids will first do the Swim Leg, then the Cycle Leg, and finally the Run. When kids cross the finish line, an all-Australian sporting champion will be there to award them a medallion and they will receive a certificate too.
