Junior School Highlights

Preps Host Assembly
Shauna Kavanagh, Prep Classroom Teacher
On Tuesday 23 October, the Preps had their opportunity to host the Junior School Assembly. They were so excited to share their learning and perform in front of their peers and parents.
The students each shared their lines or item with confidence and kept the audience entertained with their acrostic poems, handmade clocks, speech and drama poems and magical subtraction maths!
Thank you to Miss Radford for teaching them a song about grandparents. This was definitely a highlight of the assembly.
It was an incredible effort for the Prep students to stand on stage with such courage and we are very proud of them.
Quotes from the students:
Hugo - 'I think it was really fun and I felt excited and a bit nervous.'
Jacob L - 'I felt really excited and I wanted to do it again!'
Muskan - 'I got to do my speech and drama! And at the start I was pretty excited. I would love to do it every day! I even got a certificate.'
Elina - 'It was great and I got to perform on my own!'
Welcome to 2019 Preps
On 25 October the Junior School welcomed the 2019 Prep students to their first transition session.
The morning was filled with excitement, anticipation and some expected nerves as many of our future parents said goodbye to their children.
The students participated in a variety of activities that aimed at nurturing a sense of belonging and connectedness with their peers and teachers.
During the transition session many of the Prep 2019 parents attended the ‘Transition to School’ parent seminar presented by Kilvington’s education psychologist Sally Kenney.
The 2019 Prep Orientation program has been developed to support a smooth transition for incoming prep students as they reach this pivotal milestone and promotes a positive start to the next chapter of their learning journey.
Year 6 Circus Incursion
Abbey Morrow and Esther Lucas, Year 6
On 17 October both Year 6 classes joined to participate in an incursion with The Circus Crew.
During this incursion we learnt ninja skills and tips and tricks on how to hula hoop. We also experimented with devil sticks and spin plates.
The highlight of our experience was the spinning plates because we’d never done it before, and creating a human pyramid with our friends was also really fun!
Grandparents and Special Friends Day
On 19 October we had Grandparents and Special Friends Day at the School. It was delightful to welcome our students' loved ones to Kilvington! All the students had a great time!
