Around The Primary

Dear Parents,

The College has been delighted with the flexibility and cooperation of our community given the challenges of 2020. The current COVID-19 restrictions have also necessitated changes to Presentation Night.

This year, Presentation Night will be held next Friday 27 November, commencing at 7pm. All members of the College community are welcome to attend. However, unlike previous years, only students who are Award Winners or in Wanju Voices will be required.  These families have already been notified.

Tickets are now available through TryBooking at this link. Once tickets are booked, seats will be allocated so that appropriate social distancing is observed. Tickets should be booked for any student who is attending other than Award Winners and Wanju Voices who will sit in allocated areas.

Presentation Night is a wonderful evening and we are hoping that, like other functions held this year, COVID-19 will not have a significant impact on the high standard of the event.

Kind regards,

Antoinette De Pinto

Head of Primary

At today’s Assembly the Wanju Voices and the newly formed Ukulele Club had the opportunity to perform.  The audience was amazed at the talents of the students.  Our appreciation is extended to Mrs Haydon and Mr Johnston for all their hard work in preparing the students.

Primary Music Update

Year One Mini-Musical

The Year One students shared their rendition of ‘The Enormous Turnip’ with the Pre-Primary students last week. This involved singing, playing tuned and untuned percussion instruments, dance movements, acting and, of course, an enormous turnip! The students presented an entertaining and well-rehearsed show. Thank you to Ms McKeague for all her assistance.

Primary Recitals

The Primary Strings and Guitar recital last Friday was a huge success with 45 performers, including a complete cello concerto performed by Nada Jakovich, Kate Wagner and Raphael Budimlich.

A big thank you to everyone in the Music Department for their hard work. Special mention to Mrs Gratton for administration assistance, Mr Pitt and Mr Johnston for accompanying the students, and the music tutors for preparing the students.

We look forward to hearing the Year 1-3 piano students perform this afternoon.

Every year the Society of St Vincent de Paul in the Claremont Parish of St Thomas Apostle provides hampers to more than 60 families. John XXIII College families are invited to select from the following list and bring it to school by the end of November. There will be collection baskets in all the classrooms and Front Administration.
