The Swimming Squad competed in their first carnival last Friday night at Ryde Aquatic Centre. It was a great opportunity for the squad to blow out some cobwebs and perform together as a team for the first time this season. There were many Personal Best (PB) times broken against some healthy CAS and GPS competitors. Unfortunately, SPC could not pick up any silverware but did manage to come second in the Junior and Aggregate Shields. Well done to Mr Brennan (MIC), Coach McKenzie and the rest of the Squad.
With no rain last Saturday for the first time in three weeks all three Open ISA Cricket sides got in a full match of play. Well done to the 1st XI and 2nd XI for their solid wins over Cricket rivals, St Pius X College and the 3rd XI for their brilliant bowling efforts to beat a spirited St Spyridon side. Our NDJCA teams saw success with the 13A and 14A sides, but all other teams suffered varying degrees of defeat.
It has been a tough few weeks for our Basketball teams, playing ISA powerhouses Oakhill College and St Augustine’s in consecutive weeks. While most results were not in our favour, I know we will put these losses behind us and look forward to some more improved performances/results this coming Saturday with a majority of teams taking on St Pius X College.
Commiseration to the 1st IX Baseball team after their setback to Macquarie on the weekend. In a close 2-5 run loss, I expect the 1st IX will be better for it and bounce back this Saturday. Well done to the U16s who had an outstanding 15-0 run win. I had the pleasure of watching our two U14s teams go head to head. Although the 14 Gold were convincing victors, the highlight of the day came from the 14 Blue team’s fifth inning double play.
