Foundation 2021 children transition beautifully

It was wonderful to meet the St Anne's College 2021 Foundation children during transition sessions held recently. The children seemed really settled and relaxed and they were responding to myself and our new Foundation Learning Mentor for 2021, Jaz Buha. The children were happy to engage in the transition activities. They played, sang, danced, listened to a story and we said a prayer together. We are looking forward to further transition sessions to be held next week.

Spiders, dragons and lots of fun in Visual Arts

School of Wonder (SOW) children have been focusing on creating three-dimensional art forms in Visual Arts. They have constructed small spiders using pipe cleaners, pompoms and googly eyes. They have also made dragon figurines using a light air-drying clay. Children learnt how to attach the dragon's body parts and use tools to show textures such as scales, spikes and fur. The artworks have been taken home by the children to display in their home.

And now for the weather report - in Italiano

For the past few weeks children in Foundation and Year 1 have continued to focus on seasons and have also been learning about the days of the week and how to describe the weather. This has involved completing craft activities, playing dress-up games, singing songs and filling in the blanks of weather charts. They are now preparing to film their own weather reports in Italian. Their work has been fantastic and their capabilities continue to amaze me!

Learning assets in action: School of Wonder Year 1 child Mack was a thinker when he came up with the idea to create a "laser field" out of wool. The idea came from a video game he plays. Mack was a communicator when he shared his idea with the other children and they were self-managers and collaborators when they worked together to create the "laser field". They also had lots of fun!
