An Overview of our Learning

For Maths over the last couple of weeks, the Year 1 Students have revisited the topic of Measurement and Geometry, specifically learning about telling the time.

Students have had the opportunity to participate in various activities related to telling the time such as using laptops and teaching clocks. They were challenged to read and record time on both digital and analogue clocks.

We have also continued to investigate and consolidate our Number knowledge. Students have revisited Place Value concepts, such as addition and have been learning about various ways of representing multiplication through arrays.

This week our focus has been on creating displays of data using lists, tables and picture graphs and interpreting these displays.

Student of the Week!

Take Home Readers

Take home readers reflect what sound has been taught or is currently being taught within the classroom. Reading the InitiaLit readers will consolidate those concepts. Once your child has read them, please feel free to encourage your child to read other books of interest. Please remind your child that take home readers get changed on a Monday and need to be returned to school on Friday.

In the InitiaLit readers you will find at the beginning sounds to practice. And once you have read the story with your child, you can check for understanding by asking them the comprehension questions at the back.

If it is possible, please read with your child nightly.
