Parent's Association

MPS Parents Association Update

The MPS Parents Association (PA) AGM is on Monday 9th November at 7:30pm via Zoom.

The PA is a group of parents that plan and organise events that engage the school community and raise money for the school.  If you are willing to help out with next year's events and help get the fundraising back on track, please come along to the AGM.  The MPS PA constitution and registration form are included in this newsletter.  New and existing members will need to complete a registration form and return it to Neil.Butler@education.vic.gov.au before the AGM if they plan to attend.  If you would like more details on what volunteering entails, then please have a chat with one of the existing members.  Phone numbers are below or you can track them down on Facebook.  Being part of the PA is a great opportunity to be actively involved in the community and share your skills.  There are a few long term members who will be retiring from the PA this year.  To be able to run all the events currently planned for next year new members will be required.  We are a small school and rely heavily on the involvement of families to be able to support the school.

MPS Parents Association Update

The MPS Parents Association (PA) had a fun filled calendar planned for 2020 with a variety of events for students and parents.  With COVID restrictions starting earlier this year, many events have been cancelled or significantly changed.  The average amount of money raised by the PA each year has been more than $20,000 for the last 5 years.  This year the PA’s focus has been community building.  The food bank is full for those that need it and events have focussed on bringing people together rather than raising money.  This year the PA has raised about $2,000 so far.  Not what we had planned to raise and put towards the new playgrounds, but a great effort given the circumstances.

The brewery tour became beer tasting online, the student disco and adult trivia went virtual too.  We added a cocktail making class and chocolate tasting session and a number of student events online too.  We understand that attending the virtual events is not for everyone.  There are still a few confirmed events for students and parents to participate in and donate money to the school.  Hopefully, we can get this year's fundraising amount to $3,000+.  The confirmed schedule for the rest of the year currently looks like this:

  • Coin War - 4th to 10th November
  • Vision Portraits – 22nd November

With lifting of restrictions next year, the PA is hoping to be able to run a more normal fundraising programme.  To do this the PA committee needs some new people to volunteer their time and energy to help organise the events.  If you are willing to help plan, organise and run fundraising events at the school then please come to the AGM on Monday 9th November.

Thanks for your continued support.
