Principal's Report

Foundation Transition

Today was our first transition session for our 2021 Foundation students. In planning for Transition into school we have needed to have a few different plans based on what may happen with Covid Restrictions. Today's session was via Webex, and it was fantastic to see our excited almost-preppies on the screen.

From next week onwards we will be able to host small group sessions on-site, which is even more exciting. We're really looking forward to meeting some of our new students for the first time!

Electrical Upgrades

Over the next week or so we will be upgrading some of the electrical switchboards. Over the past two days, we have had some electricians on site which has meant we have had to operate without lights and other electrical items around the school while they have undertaken preliminary assessments.

Over a few days in the coming week or so, students in each of the original buildings will spend one day in another area of the school while their building is being upgraded and on Wednesday next week, we will be having these works completed in the Administration building. This will mean that we will be without phone lines, internet, and a number of other electrical elements that are run through the Administration building. On Monday next week, I will send out to the community our plans for working without these key elements of running the school.

Changes to DET Operations Guide

It was wonderful the read in the latest edition of the new DET Operations Guide that school photos and graduation ceremonies are now able to take place. Our graduation committee has been busily working away with the view that we were hopeful that we would be able to host an evening event for the students, but had also been planning an equally amazing event that may have needed to take place during school hours. At this stage only Year 6 students and staff will be able to attend, this may change before December, but I am thrilled to be able to have a wonderful evening event that will celebrate 7 years of hard work at Primary School.
