House Reports

How amazing it has been to return to school, albeit in much different capacity to what we are used to. Whilst the way we do things has changed, one thing that hasn’t is the spirit that Hopkins House continues to show. Students have come back and willingly embraced the challenges and shown great commitment to their learning.

We would like to acknowledge in particular, the Year 12 class of 2020. With a year like no other, the resilience you’ve shown and your willingness to keep going has been inspiring. The whole of Hopkins are behind you and wish you every bit of success in whatever comes next for you all.

As the curtain comes down on the class of 2020, we look forward to soon welcoming our 2021 Year 7’s. We're looking forward to seeing some new faces and take great comfort in knowing that our current Hopkins students will lead the way and be fantastic role models.

Thanks to all Hopkins staff and students for the way you have embraced a re-imaged return to school, it’s been a crazy journey but one we’ve taken in our stride together.

Go Hopkins!

Over the past 3 weeks, Our Logans Leadership Team organised our annual Christmas Food Drive to raise donations for our charity, Food Share.

We are so grateful to all of the support we have received from the Warrnambool College Community and want to extend our thanks to  everyone for all of the donations that were given. We were able to deliver to Food Share over 315kg of food which will help a lot of Warrnambool & District families that are in need.

This year has certainly been a year our students, families and staff will not forget in a hurry, especially our Year 12 students.  Recently we said farewell to our Year 12 students, not the way we may have in previous years due to the current restrictions, but they still got to leave the school in Celebration with the Warrnambool College students lining the driveway to see them one last time. We wish them all well in their future endeavours.

On behalf of the Merri community, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate and farewell the 2020 Merri year 12 cohort who are currently in the very last stages of finishing up 13 years of schooling. Completing year 12 is an amazing effort at the best of times and this year our year 12s had to do it whilst riding the ups and downs of the year that was. We are incredibly proud of the way in which each and every one of them took on the challenges of 2020 and continued striving for success regardless. It certainly wasn’t easy and yet they did it. It is an accomplishment to be proud of. If you made it through this year you can make it through anything. With that, we say farewell to the 2020 Merri year 12 students and their families and good luck for whatever the future brings.

Despite students spending the large proportion of this year learning from home we have still had some mighty Merri students going above and beyond in displaying the school’s values of persistence, resilience and mutual respect. The following students have managed to achieve over 100 merits. Congratulations to the following students who have achieved over 100 merits we are proud of you.

  • Raihan Widyo – 163
  • Lucas Byron – 155
  • Oliver Atkinson – 150
  • Ella Bryant – 110
  • Erin Sucking – 102
  • James Emeny – 101

Most of you would be aware of the Offshore, the school magazine that comes out at the end of the year. This year, two Merri students, Scarlett Westhorpe and Ayya Maulyda won a competition to have their artwork displayed on the cover of this magazine. Look out for their amazing artwork when you receive your Offshore at the end of the year. Well done Scarlett and Ayya.
