Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Guardians

This week we commenced the VCE exams.  It is wonderful to see our Year 12s involved in their final exams. Our Year 12 VCALs are also taking advantage of their new timelines and completing all their requirements.  It will not be too long before the year will come to an end for the 2020 Year 12 cohort.

We all agree that it has been challenging, but many of those challenges have helped our students and staff to be more adaptable, resilient and innovative.  Qualities which they may not have discovered in the course of ‘normality’.

2021 will also see a new structure governing Catholic schools. The Melbourne Archdiocese of Catholic Schools Ltd (MACS) will be responsible for all Catholic schools, both Primary and Secondary, in the Archdiocese of Melbourne.  The majority of aspects of the day-to-day running of schools will not change, however, the ownership of schools will be transferred to MACS.  Consequently, schools that currently have Advisory Boards will need to work towards transitioning to a new structure – the School Advisory Council.

This Council will work towards agreed Terms of Reference and each school will have the capacity to suit its own particular needs, however, there will be core protocols that each school will be obliged to follow.  In the near future, the new structure, roles and procedures will be articulated for all to become familiar with.

The new MACS Governance Framework is highlighted in the attached chart.  More information will be forthcoming in the approaching weeks.

Also in the coming weeks, the Year 11s will commence their exams and their Fast Start sessions for the beginning of their Year 12 studies.

With less than a month to go before the end of this school year, I encourage our students to make the most of their time here.  For many year levels, our focus is and has been on your wellbeing and reconnecting with each other.  Your schooling will, no doubt, continue to thrive and, if you are in need, this will be a priority in the coming month and throughout the 2021 school year.

Again, I thank you for your support and look forward to reconnecting in person as soon as it is allowed.

God Bless

Mr Sam Cosentino

Principal
