Grade 5 Supporting Biodiversity at BPS

Last term our school was very fortunate to receive a donation of 50 indigenous plants from the Bayside Climate Change Action Group (BCCAG) and Bayside Council.

Mandy Coats from the BCCAG presented the plants to Principal Steve and several onsite learning students. The plants were cared for until the rest of the students returned to school in term four.

On 16th October Grade 5D students enthusiastically planted the plants in the garden bed at the front of the school.

The plants will help to increase the biodiversity of our school grounds.

Mrs. Murray | Science Technician

  • Maddy 5D - We planted some plants that were native to the area.  This could help bring native animals back.
  • Katie 5D - On Friday 16th October 5D planted native plants at the main entrance of the school. The school chose to have native plants as there is a better chance that all our amazing animals will come back. The BCCAG and Bayside Council generously gave the plants to us.
  • Abby 5D - My class enjoyed planting with Mrs. Murray.  It was really fun even though I got a lot of dirt on my shoes! We planted these plants as we want native birds to come down near the school.
