Technology

It was so lovely to welcome the students back to the classroom in Term 4 and we have all been enjoying some amazing learning together in our classes!
Thank you to all the families who supported their child/ren whilst remote learning at home it was very much appreciated.
Grade 5/6 Food Technology
This term, the Grade 5/6 students are learning about Food Technology. The focus of the last 2 weeks has been Personal Hygiene and Safety, developing their food preparation skills and techniques, and healthy eating.
Last week, students were able to use their amazing imagination to design and produce their own Egg Emoji. This week students made a healthy salad wrap using produce from our school vegetable garden. Students have been introduced to new and interesting foods, and are encouraged to try new food combinations as it is a wonderful opportunity to develop their tastebuds.
Sweet Desires
Students have been learning about different types of pastry and last week made Portuguese Custard Tarts using store bought pastry.
Students completed a sensory analysis of their tarts and were able to identify the modifications they would make if they were to produce them again.
This week, students had the opportunity to make Choux pastry and used this to make Profiteroles. I was very impressed with their finished products as they served them with homemade Crème Patisserie, Cream and Chocolate.
I do hope that some Portuguese Custard Tarts and Profiteroles made it home for families to taste!
Thank you to the Joubert family and Layla Linto for the donations of delicious farm fresh eggs we used in the Food Technology lessons.
Agriculture
Firstly, thank you to the Edenhope College Parents and Friends for kindly donating so many beautiful seedlings and trees for the Agricultural program.
We are so grateful that we have such a supportive group of parents who endeavour to provide opportunities to enrich student outcomes at Edenhope College.
Students were fortunate in the first week back to school to have a visit from Adelle Joubert's hen ‘Triangle’ and her 2 chicks. Students delighted in meeting ‘Triangle and gently holding the 2 chicks which only hatched at the end of week one! Thank you Adelle for sharing your feathered friends.
Textiles
Students in Grade 3/4 have been learning about the Artist Mirka Mora and have been designing and creating their own Mirka Mora Dolls using a range of Textile items.
The Year 7 students were introduced to the sewing machine and have been learning how to thread the machine and use the machine safely.
