Senior School Happenings
It has been so lovely to have all our VCE and VCAL students back on-site for the last two weeks. It was really heartening to see the students get back into their work, doing what is required for the benefit of their learning, regardless of what they produced during the Remote Learning period.
The Year 12 VCE students are well into their exam revision, with their written exams starting in just over two weeks’ time. This is really crucial preparation time for them and they are working hard to refine their skills and understandings, ready for their crucial performance opportunities in November.
The senior students participated so willingly and enthusiastically in the School Review process during the first of the three days on Tuesday. A number were invited to contribute their ideas in group situations and they willingly did so and gave constructive ideas of their perceptions of the school and for what they feel would be good future directions. They represented the school so respectfully and a number of the Department reviewers commented on their contributions and that we were lucky to have such lovely students. This was great feedback, which I have passed on to the students.
We are well into finalising subject selections for 2021 for the upcoming VCE and VCAL students. I have met with all students involved now, from Years 9 and 10 this year, but if students have changed their mind or would like to do anything different, I am more than happy to discuss this with them – just come and see me.
It was fantastic last week to see the Year 11 VCE and VCAL students finally receive their senior school jumpers. Only some of us managed to be in the photo, but the jumpers look great and I am sure that the Year 11s will love wearing them into next year.

Year 11 Jumpers Arrive! Woohoo!
Last week the Year 11 VCE and VCAL jumpers arrived for our senior students. All the upheaval of this year has meant that it has taken so much longer than anticipated to receive them!
The wait has definitely been worth it and the senior students were thrilled to finally have their own unique jumpers.
A huge thank you goes to Shakayla Summerhayes for all her efforts in designing, arranging and organising the printing, collection and distribution of the jumpers.
Enjoy Year 11s!
Advance Elective visit Edenhope Hostel
Year 9 & 10 Advance students visited the hostel last Wednesday to brighten the day of residents who have been locked down for a few months. Residents enjoyed the visit and the Advance students learnt about the importance of community spirit, which is part of the Advance elective. A box of Cadbury favorites was left by the students on the outside window sill and it is believed that they had disappeared within a couple of minutes of being opened inside the hostel.
Machines & Electronics Electives
The Year 8-10 elective of machines and robotics have been looking at circuits this term. They have learnt about components and how they affect the flow of electricity through circuits.

This week they were challenged with designing and creating a hearing-impaired doorbell. The students had to choose the correct components, sequence, and circuit type for the doorbells to work correctly.

VCAL Numeracy
VCAL students are learning and developing their knowledge and skills through mathematical understanding and hands-on-learning. As part of their financial literacy learning, VCAL students demonstrated that they can give or take the correct change when shopping or servicing as a shop owner. This skill is very practical in our everyday life.
Year 7 Science
Every year many passengers die on the road because of car accidents. Statistics show that human error is to blame in over 90% of severe car accidents. Our Year 7 Science students tested the car forces for crash and collision as part of their learning about forces and inertia. Modern technologies installed in the car may reduce the road accidents but driver’s cautious measure is important. A knowledge of forces at work or on the road will help to make the cars you do travel in today safer.
