Primary School Redevelopment

The new building for Aitken Primary, Years 3-6, will allow for a variety of learning opportunities. There will be adaptable indoor and outdoor spaces that promote activities such as explicit teaching, collaboration, critical thinking, creativity and innovation, independent learning, rejuvenation and socializing. The spaces will provide opportunities for interactive learning environments that allow teachers and students structure, variety and choice. 

The building design is structured into Learning Neighborhoods, with Years 3 and 4 being on the lower level and Years 5 and 6 on the upper level. Each Neighborhood allows for 3-year level classes comprising of 26 students in each class on each side of the building. There will be a mix of quiet classroom spaces, small group structured spaces, and shared learning spaces for each year level. The new building will enhance teaching and learning, provide flexibility, integrate technology, and support and accommodate a variety of learning preferences.

Also included in the design are beautifully equipped Prep to Year 6 Learning Spaces for Performing Arts, Visual Arts, and Design and Technology.

Construction of the building is progressing well and has the expected completion date of Term Four 2022.

A highly practical way you can support the future development of the College is through regular giving to the Aitken College Building Fund. Current families contribute through their annual school fees, but future families and alumni might also like to contribute to maintaining and growing the facilities of the College.

Tax deductible donations can be made as a one-off payment, through annual donations, or maybe you would like to establish a bequest for future support.
