On November 21st  Kurunjang Secondary College celebrated the anniversary of The Long Walk.

Students were invited to attend the library to decorate/design their own Long Walk Indigenous footy sock for their chance to win a prize.

We acknowledge the day and watched the story of how the Long Walk unfolded.

"On 21 November 2004, Michael Long embarked on an historic trek, walking from his home in the suburbs of Melbourne all the way to Parliament House in Canberra – more than 650 kilometres away. After returning home from yet another Aboriginal funeral, Michael decided that something needed to be done about the plight of his people. He took it upon himself to get Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander issues back on the national agenda and resolved to meet with Prime Minister John Howard to discuss his concerns… even if he had to walk all the way to Canberra to do it. Michael was joined on the road by Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal supporters from all over Australia. Some walked in support for an hour, some for a day and some took the journey all the way to Canberra. As the walkers passed through the Victorian countryside, local people came out to meet them, offering encouragement, support and

assistance."

National Indigenous Business Summer School - University of Melbourne

NIBSS is an exciting week-long program developed for Indigenous high school students entering Years 11 and 12 who are thinking about studying business, starting their own business, becoming an entrepreneur or are simply curious about university study.

The program has been designed to provide students with a unique opportunity to experience what daily life as a university student is like, to learn about the various pathways into business studies, and to see business in action by working as a team on a real-world business case!

All students are supported throughout the week by our Indigenous mentors.
