KSC Student Pathway Plans – Jorja & Ruby Weitering
Name:
Jorja Weitering
Year level:
Year 11 VCE
Favourite subjects at school:
My favourite subject at school would be Product-Design Woodwork and when I was younger it would have been Food Tech.
Why did you choose VCE:
Because I didn’t have any goals coming into Year 11 and I enjoy when I get to connect with different students and teachers.
Career Goal:
At the moment to complete VCE and explore my options, I have interest in Interior design so I’m most likely to reach for a goal regarding that.
Classes I’m partaking in:
Wood work, Health and human development, visual communication, business management, English and General mathematics.
Plans once you finish year 12:
I am still working that one out. But I have always loved the idea of owning my own business so, I could potentially go down that path.
What advice would you give students?
The best of your life is yet to come. Don’t take things for granted and believe in your dreams because if you don’t get up and do something about them, they are only going to sit there being a dream.

National Indigenous Business Summer School - University of Melbourne
NIBSS is an exciting week-long program developed for Indigenous high school students entering Years 11 and 12 who are thinking about studying business, starting their own business, becoming an entrepreneur or are simply curious about university study.
The program has been designed to provide students with a unique opportunity to experience what daily life as a university student is like, to learn about the various pathways into business studies, and to see business in action by working as a team on a real-world business case!
All students are supported throughout the week by our Indigenous mentors.

Spotlight on agriculture
An industry in demand
There are six jobs to every agriculture graduate in 2022 – a ratio that has held steady for five years. For students looking for job security, quick career progression, international work opportunities and the ability to make a difference, agriculture is an excellent choice.
Studying agriculture can open doors to a variety of industries including agronomy, agribusiness and policy development through to FMCG, logistics, finance and management consulting. There is a global skills shortage in agriculture, and specialist graduates are sought-after in Australia and overseas.
Feeding Australia is an essential service – and with challenges in food security, climate change, biodiversity and natural resource management, there are so many ways to make an impact.
We encourage students who are interested in technology, business, practical problem-solving and building a healthier world to explore our agriculture degree.
