From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we are more than halfway through the Term there is significant excitement building with students singing Christmas Carols, getting ready for the Christmas Concert. There will be more details about the Christmas Concert coming out soon. Our students have been getting ready for Remembrance Day today; all students will participate in remembering those who have fallen for us and many students have made a Poppy which has been placed on our fence.

Thank you to all community members who came to Raelene’s farewell, it was lovely to see so many members and past families come back and wish her well. I’m pleased to announce that Shane Gagiero has been appointed Assistant Principal at Somerville PS. Shane has an extensive knowledge of the school, community, and an excellent relationship with all of our students.

We welcomed our 2023 Foundation students; it was lovely to see so many bright and happy faces eager to start school. Over the next few weeks, they will get to know their peers and the 2023 Foundation Teachers. If you are intending on sending your child to school next year and have not yet enrolled, please contact the office so that we can include your child in our transition program. They all looked very smart in their Somerville Star Polos!

On the 26th of November is the State Election, Somerville PS will be a polling centre. We are going to have a BBQ and drink stall. If you have any time and would like to be involved, please contact the office; we will have a sign up sheet available. We will be selling sausages from 8:30am till 4pm.

Have a great weekend.
