Maroondah Division Gala Cricket Day

Approximately 40 students in Grades 5 and 6 embraced the opportunity to participate in the Maroondah Division Gala Cricket Day. We were fortunate that the day went ahead at all, with Melbourne's heavy rainfall threatening to ruin our plans.

It was wonderful to see so many students enjoying playing cricket, with plenty of wickets, sixes and catches occurring. We even had a passing thunderstorm temporarily halt proceedings.

Many thanks to our parent volunteers who assisted our teams. The day would not have been possible without their support and expertise.

Junior Hooptime State Finals

For the first time in our school's history, we had 2 teams qualify to compete in the Junior Hooptime State Finals. Participating in the state finals was a massive honour for our All Star Boys and Wonga Park Wallabies teams.

The Wallabies, coached by Matt Kohler, competed hard in each match, achieving some impressive results. They came particularly close to winning in a couple of games. All of the boys embraced the opportunity to test themselves against the best junior players in the state.

Our All Stars, coached by Hayley Johnson, did particularly well, making it all the way to the quarter finals, before being defeated in a close game against Mooroolbark East Primary School. Even though the loss hurt at the time, the boys were very proud of being amongst the top eight teams in our state this year.

Many thanks to the support from all families involved, providing transport and encouragement to the children on the day.
