From the Principal

We are definitely heading into the busiest time of the school year. There is an air of excitement and anticipation as we move towards the close of the school year.

Over the coming weeks there will be lots of different things happening in and out of the classroom. Kids particularly thrive on consistent and predictable routines. When this does not happen, it can trigger different emotional states. Our teaching staff do a great job in providing predictable routines each day and when there are changes to the normal program, they work closely with their students to prepare them.

As parents, it is important to always to be a calm and reassuring voice with your child, particularly when there might be some anxiety attached to an upcoming event. A good example of this will be with upcoming announcements for 2023 class lists. I am thinking that for some students (and parents), this might be an anxious time. Will they be with their friends? Who will their teacher be? It is important to be a positive voice and be re-assuring that whichever grade they are in and whoever their teacher is, they will have a happy start.

We want all our students to have the happiest and most positive remainder to the school year and parents play such a vital role in this.

Grade 6 Production

What a fantastic event this was on Wednesday night! One of the great things about Langy Park Primary School, are the amazing opportunities we provide our students. It was a very special evening, sharing the Grade 6 production of, 'The Descendents' on a large inflatable screen in the gym, with all our Grade 6 families. A massive congratulations to all our Grade 6 students. They were ultra impressive and this is due to the huge amount of work by Mrs Pendlebury and Mrs Barnett. They were ably supported by the Grade 6 team in getting all the students ready. I would also like to thank all the Grade 6 parents for their encouragement and support with this event. This sort of event cannot happen without a large team.

In this newsletter you can find some lovely production photos. Please take the time to have a look at them.

Grade 4 Expo

Deb, Kym and I had a great time moving around to each of the Grade 4 classrooms on Thursday afternoon to view their dioramas of different ecosystems. I was very impressed with their knowledge of reef systems, wetlands and mangroves. It was great to have so many parents and carers in attendance, so this high quality work could be showcased to a large audience.

Great job Grade 4s!

2023 Grade 6 Student Leadership

Our current Grade 5 students are about to embark on applying for different Grade 6 student leadership opportunities for next year. Student leadership is another important component to our school's program. I wish all our Grade 5 students the very best, if they choose to apply for a leadership position. It is a very rigorous process and I know they will make it very difficult for the selection panel.

I look forward to seeing many more student achievements across the end of the term and all the excitement that comes with it!

Take care everyone,

Richard
