AMBULANCE VICTORIA MEMBERSHIP
Accidents do happen! All families are encouraged to be members of the ambulance service. At times of accidents or illness, the First Aid trained staff member/s in attendance will make a decision as to whether or not they should request the attendance of the ambulance service.
In doing so, the health and safety of the patient will be the only determining factor. Ambulance membership, or potential costs to families will not be a point of consideration. Such a decision will always be made with a conservative ‘better safe than sorry’ attitude. Parents (or next of kin for an adult) will always be contacted as soon as possible so that they can be in attendance when the ambulance arrives. A familiar staff member will accompany a student to the hospital if the attending ambulance officer approves and consultation with the parent/guardian.
Arriving and leaving the College - start and end of day
A reminder to parents that the drop off/pick up area for students is at the back car park behind the multi-purpose hall only.
The back car park: All parents are to wait until the buses have left the front of the College to leave the College grounds, a staff member is usually on duty at the T intersection stopping the traffic. This is to avoid a bank up of cars at the corner of Ogilvy Street and Horn Street. We need to get the buses to the Secondary College ASAP after the end of the school day.
We would also remind staff, parents and students of the following:-
All students leaving the College on foot must use the footpath. Students riding a bicycle need to wait for the buses to leave then they can exit the property via the main gate. It is not safe to be crossing Horn Street between the main gate and Strzelecki Highway. Nor is it safe for a parent to stop and collect or drop off students in this section of Horn Street.
In order for buses to run to schedule, no student, parent or staff vehicles (with the exception of the teacher on bus duty at Leongatha Secondary College) should leave ahead of the first group of buses.
Did you know …. First Aid
When a student requests to go to the First Aid room a class pass must be provided to them by their classroom teacher. The student can then go to the office where the office staff will sign the student into the First Aid room and enter the time of entry (and exit). Office staff will call parents if your child needs further attention. Please do not contact parents directly via SMS/email etc. If your child contacts you then please ask them to tell their teacher that they are unwell and we will call you.
Did you know …. Student Absence
Parents are requested to contact the school by 9am in the event of their child being absent for the day, this can be done in PAM, by calling 03 56622 4255 or by emailing attendance@mmcrc.catholic.edu.au. All schools are required to record a reason for every absence from school.
Did you know … Announcements and early departures
We are unable to make announcements during class time. If a student needs to leave the College early parents are able to call 03 5662 4255 or email attendance@mmcrc.catholic.edu.au to organise a leave pass, parents then need to come to the office to sign out their child. Any messages can only be passed on to a student once the bell has gone at 3:15pm.
Did you know … Bus Passes
Bus passes must be applied for through student reception with a minimum of 48 hours notice. Bus drivers will not accept a note from a parent—the pass must be issued by the College. Most buses are at capacity therefore passes cannot be issued especially for sporting or social purposes. Bus pass enquiries can be done by emailing bus@mmcrc.catholic.edu.au
