Assistant Principal's Report

Miss Carly Epskamp

Welcome to Week Eight of Term Four. Our second last newsletter for 2022. It's a very exciting time of the year coming up, we love celebrating all of the students growth and achievement at the end of a school year.

World Children's Day

We had a fabulous time celebrating World Children's Day at DPS last week. The Wellbeing Team organised a tree planting exercise for all classes and Bunnings assisted us with this. Then we headed into the gym for a very exciting game of basketball. The Level Six students played against the teaching team and it was a fabulous game with lots of action and close calls. Eventually the teachers came out winners with a score of 22-8. Everyone tried their best and showed great sportsmanship. It was an enjoyable day for all involved.

Grade Three Gymnastics

Well done to our Level Three students who have been busy practising their gymnastic skills as part of the BTYC program over the last few weeks. The teachers have seen a big progression in students skills and the students have kept a smile on their face throughout all sessions, which is pleasing.

Grade Six

It is an extremely exciting time for our Level Six students who are almost ready to graduate from DPS and move onto secondary education. We have a wonderful night planned at the Manningham Club, where we will celebrate the Level Six students and all that they have achieved and experienced in their time at DPS. I am personally looking forward to the Level Six performance, as I hear they've been practising hard and perfecting their dance moves for the big night. The graduation will be held on Thursday 8th December.

Parent Helper Morning Tea

On Wednesday 14th December at 11:00am we will be holding a special morning tea in our staffroom for all parent volunteers who have been in our classrooms helping in 2022. We are very lucky at DPS that we have parent helpers in our classrooms each week assisting our students with reading and other associated tasks. We value the contribution that these parents make to our students and their development.

Fun Day

Students and teachers are looking forward the the whole school Fun Day on Friday 16th December. Some of these Fun Day activities may require a small payment. Please see compass for more information or call the school office on 9848 1122.

End of Year Reports

Teachers have been busy assessing students in preparation for their end of year individual student report. These reports will highlight students strengths and allow you to measure their progression this year. Reports will go live via Compass on Monday 12th December. More information on how to access your child's report will be provided shortly via Compass.

Transition

Last week we began our formal transition for the Kindergarten students who will be Preps in 2023. The current DPS students who are transitioning forward into their next year level will meet their new 2023 teacher on Tuesday 13th December. More information on this transition process will follow.

If you know of a family who are looking to enrol their child in a Primary School, please tell them to call the school office on 9848 1122 and we will happily take them on a tour of our fabulous school.

Welcome to new families

Throughout Term Four, DPS have been lucky enough to have 37 new students join the DPS family. We welcome those students and their families to our caring and supportive community.

Please remember our school values: Determination, Pride and Success. How will you show these values as we approach December and the end of the school year?
