Principal's Report

We are now at the tail end of the term with only three more weeks! I am pleased to see students staying focused and working hard. It is important to maintain our focus as there is still plenty of learning to accomplish. Having said this, your teachers will ensure that you have the opportunity to enjoy some holiday activities with your friends as part of end of year celebrations.

This is a very special time for our year sixes as they prepare for graduation and transition to their respective high schools. Some students have already had the opportunity to visit their high school. Today, I had Lulah see me in the office to tell me all about her recent high school visit. It was beautiful to hear how enthusiastically she spoke about her new school. Coming out of our comfort zone can be challenging but having a positive mindset is an excellent strategy for embracing change. Well done, Lulah!

Our Prep transition program has started, and we warmly welcome our new preps and their families into our school community. Please remember to say hello the the new members of our DPS community.

The 'meet your teacher' whole school transition day will be held on Tuesday, December 13th. More details will be forthcoming via compass in the coming weeks.

Shade Sail

I am pleased to report that the Shade Sail works have been completed. I am delighted with the result, and I look forward to seeing our DPS students enjoying the shade whilst playing.

Staying safe from mosquitoes

After floods and heavy rainfall, mosquitoes can grow and spread in the pools of water left behind.

While the overall risk is low, some mosquitoes carry diseases that are spread through mosquito bites. Mosquitoes are more active at dusk and dawn, but some will also bite during the day.

The best way to prevent mosquito-borne diseases is to avoid mosquito bites.

Families can protect against mosquito bites by:

  • covering up as much as possible with long, loose-fitting, light-coloured clothing
  • applying insect repellent that contains picaridin or DEET on exposed skin when leaving home
  • limiting outdoor activity if lots of mosquitoes are active.

Kind regards,

Mrs Vesdrevanis
