Assistant Principal

Dear Parents/Carers,

Beyond Boundaries is an exciting week on the Rowville Primary School calendar and so far, it has not disappointed. All our students will have participated in an adventure experience that will have taken them into a stretch zone.

Foundation Ruccis Circus

Our youngest students were all smiles as they headed to their adventure experience at Ruccis Circus on Tuesday. What a stretch experience it was! The students participated in a workshop where they tried a range of circus skills including balancing on tightropes, climbing silks, swinging on trapeze, juggling, hula-hooping and tumbling. It was fantastic to see the perseverance the children showed when faced with challenges. These activities were new experiences for most, with teamwork, resilience, but most of all a positive attitude.  All students were able to feel proud of what they had achieved.

Year 1 Ninja Parc

The Year One students were buzzing on Wednesday morning as they prepared for their day adventure to Ninja Parc. This experience allowed students to overcome their fears and demonstrate perseverance as they conquered a range of ‘stretch’ activities such as the curved wall and the big obstacle course.  The curved wall was a favourite,  where students demonstrated lots of perseverance and resilience.

Mrs Burke and Mrs Hawkins were proud of the encouraging and supportive words shared by the students throughout the day.  “You almost had it.”  “You were so close, come and try again.”  “I did it, I did it, that felt amazing.”  “I did it, I did it, that was unbelievable.” “I can help you!” “This is how I did it, maybe try that.” “ I am going to try again.”  I didn’t give up.”  “Now I have done this I am going to try the harder one.”  “Look what I can do now.” “This is hard, but I am going to try again.”  These uplifting comments were heard all day, along with high fives once they had achieved the obstacle, cheering for each other, clapping, hugging and jumping up and down. It was a day full of personal growth for each and every student.

Year 4 Camp Rumbug

As the Year 4 students returned from Camp Rumbug on Wednesday afternoon, the hum on the bus was much lower than that of Monday morning.  Although the same level of excitement for camp remained, the energy levels had significantly dropped. Throughout the three days, the students challenged themselves to try a range of new activities such as a flying fox, giant swing, canoeing and a challenging low ropes course which introduced the concept of ‘be balanced or get muddy’.  Students took calculated risks and tackled challenges that involved going beyond their comfort zone. They also developed their independence by quickly realising they had the responsibility for cleaning their own space, their belongings and that time-management was essential. . . especially when that precious third time on the flying fox was on offer! Every single Rowville Primary School student showed the value of perseverance by challenging themselves and respect towards each other, Camp Rumbug staff and our teachers and parent volunteers.

Kmart Stud Park Shopping Centre Wishing Tree

This morning, our Year 4 choir students were honoured to be invited to sing Christmas Carols at K-Mart Stud Park Shopping Centre to launch its annual “Wishing Tree Appeal.”  In conjunction with the Salvation Army, Kmart encourages those in the local community who can provide a gift to attach an age bracket sticker to the gift and place the gift in the gift giving boxes under the Wishing Tree.  We were extremely proud of our students’ performance. Thank you to the parents and grandparents who supported this event.

Remembrance Day

Tomorrow is Remembrance Day — a day for us to remember those who have served and those who have died in all wars and peacekeeping operations. Remembrance Day marks the date in 1918 when the First World War came to an end. It is officially observed at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month each year. Our school will mark Remembrance Day by pausing for a minute’s silence to remember people’s service and sacrifice.

Kind regards,
