Ministry and Care

Chaplain Joshua Hauser

Our Christmas season is filled with activity. We shop for gifts, attend functions, spend time with friends and family, maybe bake cookies, and sometimes this can lead to the feeling of stress. When we look at the lives of the people involved in the true story of Christmas, we can see the stress that they would have been under.  From having to travel pregnant just to go to a census… to getting there, obviously about to give birth any hour and having an Airbnb nightmare with nowhere to stay.

To having to go to the stables to give birth… not having a place to put the Creator of the world…except in a manger that is used for feeding animals. It sounded stressful and complicated. Yet we see moments of peace within the Christmas story.

Why?

Because this was a prophecy being fulfilled.  Written hundreds of years before, we read in Isaiah this simple line.

“…to us a child is born, to us a son is given…” (Isaiah 9:6a NIV)

The impact of those words are so powerful.  God gave us Jesus, to help repair and save our future. God loves us so immensely that he sent His son to us all.

So, this Christmas, when things get complicated, stop to focus and embrace the one we call “…Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6 NIV)

Remember God's promises to love you and remember that Christmas is a time to share peace and love to all around us.

God Bless you all!
