S2 Newsletter

Wow! We can’t believe there are only five more weeks of the 2022 school year. Students have been participating in a range of engaging learning activities including conducting science experiments, using ‘show, don’t tell’ writing techniques and developing their drama skills.

English

Students are learning to apply their knowledge of the Seven Steps to Writing Success to write more engaging and descriptive texts. Students are working with Mrs Edmunds to develop their skills.  

Mathematics

We are learning to: 

• develop multiplicative strategies to solve multiplication and division problems
• use kilograms and grams to measure and compare masses
• find missing numbers in number sentences involving addition and subtraction 
• use a range of mental strategies to solve addition and subtraction problems

Other key learning areas

Students have been busy conducting science experiments involving heating and cooling. They have been investigating whether heating or cooling objects including chocolate, a metal spoon, cordial and honey, causes a change of state between liquids and solids. They have also been learning about fair tests.
